Day 158 / May 28, 2024

It was time to say goodbye to Banff National Park and hello to Jasper National Park! Lucky for us the Icefields Parkway connects the parks and has been recognized as one of the top ten scenic drives in the world. 🌎

Why are you so pretty Canada?!
We could bearly believe it when this black bear stood still and practically posed for a picture as we drove past.
Construction of the Icefields Highway began in 1931. It took 600 men 10 years to build the highway using hand labor and horses.
There were some traffic jams along the way.
These mountain goats had no problem leisurely walking next to the Beast as we sat there waiting for them.
The Icefields Parkway stretches for 230 km and even our downloaded offline maps wouldn’t work along the route. Luckily there was no getting lost on this road!
The Athabasca Glacier is accessible by road and many people take a tour on the Columbia Icefield Explorer. We skipped it because we’re hoping to hike out onto a glacier instead! 🤞🏻
