Day 115 / April 15, 2024

Today was our third looooong drive day in a row and it was at this point that we discovered that our maximum was actually only two full days of driving in a row. 😮‍💨 I tried to reframe our exhaustion as training for the AlCan!

The kids and I squeezed in school and Matt feverishly worked while we packed up camp. Soon it was 11:00 and time to head out for more driving. We started at 4,000 feet…
…climbed to 5,000 feet…
…and then 6,000 feet.
We stopped in Flagstaff (approximately 7,000 feet) to resupply before continuing north.
The weather was noticeably cooler at the higher elevation so even Riggs needed to add an extra layer to stay warm. 🥶
We got a kick out of seeing the bags of chips that had just been delivered (apparently from a lower elevation!) on the shelf at the grocery store. Science lesson for the day: ✅
Refueled with the big boys before we got to the Grand Canyon area. Looking ahead the truck stops are few and far between!
Check out these famous career Junior Rangers featured on the National Park Service website! I knew that my camera roll with 100,000+ photos on it would come in handy someday. 📸
