Day 107 / April 7, 2024

The cloudy weather rolled in just in time for the solar eclipse tomorrow. 😫 When we started planning this road trip one of the main goals was to be in the path of totality during the 2024 total solar eclipse. We’ve had our campsite reserved for the past 9 months but as the date approached we decided to switch our plans.

The original plan was to drive into the path of totality the morning of the eclipse but as the hype got bigger we started to reconsider this idea.
Our campground that is 99.4% in the path of totality is fine but you need to be in 100% to fully experience the eclipse. Since we’re concerned about traffic and finding a spot we started to search for a new campground. We’re jumping for joy that last night we found a campsite that is 100% in the path of totality.
It was a lucky find and we happily forfeited our last two nights in New Braunfels and relocated an hour northwest to Comfort, TX.
The new campground is on the Guadalupe River which is spring-fed and between banks lined with baldcypress trees.
There is also a pool so everyone is happy with our new plan!
The town of Comfort is quaint and full of history.
It is also home to Comfort Pizza which is, no joke, the BEST wood fired pizza we’ve ever had.
We’re thinking good vibes for a sunny day tomorrow!
