Day 146 / May 16, 2024

Today we headed into Glacier National Park to check out the visitor center and see what trails were open. We knew that we would be visiting before the park was fully open for the season but couldn’t resist stopping by since it was on our route to Canada. 🛣️

Adler grabbed another book off the 3rd grade reading list. 😱
Glacier, which became the 10th national park in 1910, protects more than one million acres of mountains, forests, meadows and water.
Included in those one million acres is one very long road through the park that is still snow covered at higher elevation and under construction at the lower elevations. The Going-to-the-Sun Road is 50 miles long and was built in 1932.
There are 762 lakes in Glacier. We were wondering who’s job it was to count all of them…
The park is nicknamed the Crown of the Continent and even after a short visit we think the nickname is a good fit!
I love how pay phones confuse teenagers. 😆
Riggs continued his helpful streak when it comes to carrying recyclables to the bin. ♻️
