Day 72 / March 3, 2024

The day started out just like any other weekend. Riggs secured the campsite perimeter, the kids hung out and Adler cooked up some breakfast for everyone. Later today, however, we had a surprise up our sleeves…

When I found out that Elleny’s friend, Emmylou, would be in Destin for spring break we decided to see if we could arrange our travel plans to also be in the area. Her mom and I decided on a meeting place, hid the kids around the corner and attempted to pull off an epic surprise…
Emmy was on to us and our tricks because we had surprised her last year in Key West as well. Her reaction was still so fun!
Elleny and Emmy have been friends for 12 years (!!!) and the boys have grown up with her so it’s always great to see the kids all together.
They had a blast climbing on the play structure/art installation that reminded us of Pringles.
This street reminded us of Mary Poppins and it was the cutest!

These two are the sweetest together now…
…and way back when.
After we were done at Destin Commons, the kids swam together at our pool.
It looks like we dropped off the baby turtle at the right place yesterday, because today we met the rest of his family in the pond. It was super interesting to see a soft shell turtle up close.
Riggs was very interested in trying some turtle soup.
Looking forward to spending a few days together!
