The Most Expensive Haircut

We’ve known our hair stylist, Ashley, and her family for many years so haircuts are basically just a time to chat, catch up and leave the salon with really nice smelling hair. Since we had just gotten home from traveling we had a lot to talk about.

Matt and I were telling her all about our trip, being stuck in the tiny travel trailer for five days during the ice storm and how we were maaaaaybe entertaining the idea of looking for a bigger RV to continue doing longer road trips.

Matt said something to the effect of, “We were thinking about this type of RV that is called a Super C. It’s like a Class C but with a semi-truck front.”

Ashley replies, “My parents own a Super C.”

*shock and disbelief*

Matt, “Do you know what brand it is? We’re going to look for a Dynamax. The model is called the Force but we’ll need one with bunk beds. There aren’t very many of those out there.”

Ashley, “That’s the one they have.”

*more shock and disbelief*

Matt, “Do they like it? Do they use it a lot?”

Ashley, “No, not really. Do you want me to ask if they would be willing to sell it?”

A few short days later…

That first look at the spacious interior was exciting!

We spent a long time looking her over, went for a test drive and then headed home to think about it.

We were pretty sure we would enjoy traveling in a Super C. They are safer than a Class A RV because of the semi-truck front that offers crash protection. There was much more space for everyone to spread out and have their own areas which we felt was important. And best of all? There was a washer and dryer. No more visits to sketchy laundromats! Since the truck is a Freightliner cab and chassis it would be easy to have serviced at truck centers. Plus, we felt really good personally knowing the previous owners and how well they took care of it.

A few weeks later we were back to pick up our new RV and bring her home for good.

Once we were home we polished her until she shined and then picked the most beautiful name we could think of: The Beast.
Matt added a baseplate and wiring to my SUV so we could flat tow it behind the RV.

We sold our Lance to the nicest family from Colorado. When they came to pick it up I was more sad about saying goodbye than I thought I’d be. So many memories packed into twenty-one feet of living space!

After they drove away with the Lance I turned around and saw the Beast parked in my driveway. Then I remembered that there was a washer and dryer inside and that made me feel better real quick.

See you down the road, Lance!

Now that was an expensive haircut.
